World Youth Day 2008
DEADLINE FOR WORLD YOUTH DAY VISA APPLICATIONS NEARS
World Youth Day is the largest youth event in the world and will be held in Sydney from 15 to 20 July 2008.
All International World Youth Day participants will need to register first and will the be advised which visa to apply for. Registration can be done on http://www.wyd2008.org/index.php/en/wyd08_pilgrims/register_for_wyd08
Once you are registered, you will be entitled to apply for your visa free of Australian Government charges by following the process listed below.
To make an application, please follow these steps:
1. Print a copy of the application form (number 48R - see below) and complete it.
2. If you are under 18: Print out a copy of the parental consent form (number 1229 - see below) and ask your parents or guardians to complete it. You will also need to submit evidence of your relationship with your parent/guardian (for example, a notarised copy of your birth certificate) and a copy of identification for your parent/guardian showing their signature (for example, a passport). Notarisation of documents must be done by a notary public or commissioner of oaths.
3. Prepare your supporting documentation:
• 1 passport-sized photograph (taken no more than 6 months prior to your application)
• 1 notarised copy of the page of your passport that shows your name and photograph and the page that shows your passport number, date of issue and date of expiry of your passport. Notarisation must be done by a notary public or commissioner of oaths. There is no need to send in your passport to the Australian Immigration Office.
• Evidence of residence status if you are not a national of the country you applying from.
• Evidence that you will be able to support yourself while in Australia. This could include, any fundraising activity you have been involved in, bank statements, or evidence of financial support from a sponsoring organisation.
• Evidence of enrolment and/or employment in your home country.
NOTE: Additional documentation/information may be required on request during the processing of your application.
4. Print a copy of the coversheet and complete it.
5. Lodge your application with supporting documents at the following Australian Immigration Office:
